Logic - '1-800-273-8255' ft. Alessia Cara & Khalid: Powerful Prevention

Have you listened to a song lately that legitimately made you cry? That's the effect that Logic's new song '1-800-273-8255' may have on you. The titular phone number is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which may give you some indication of what the song is about. Logic said of the song that he met many fans on the road who told him that his music had saved their life, but that he wasn't even trying to do that. "Now what can happened if I actually did?" he asked himself.

The song starts out from the perspective of someone calling the hotline with the intention of committing suicide, progressing into a conversation with an operator who says "I want you to be alive / You don't gotta die today." Logic assumes the role of both the caller and the operator as he sings and raps back and forth.

Alessia Cara is featured on the song with a powerful verse, as the song takes a positive turn and the caller begins to come around. It ends with an emotional, short-but-sweet outro by Khalid. The end result is a song that is raw, real and unflinching, admitting that yes, life is tough, but you can push through it.
