Mariah Carey Shares How She Collapsed After A Mental Breakdown

Mariah Carey Reflects on Failed 2001 TRL Stunt and Hospitalization More tea is being spilled from Mariah Carey’s memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah” as she recalls her “breakdown” which actually was a failed attempt at a PR stunt back in 2001 on MTV’s, TRL. Mariah says she tried to put a spin on the bad reviews her movie, “Glitter” was getting, by appearing on MTV’s Total Request Live by surprise. Mariah walked on stage pushing an ice cream cart and interrupted Carson Daly, freestyling her dialog and hoping the Daly would play along, which he didn’t. The whole ordeal was a bust and it put Mariah into a deeper depression and her anxiety and exhaustion mounted. This led her back to her family’s home where she collapsed from exhaustion and was awakened by her mother who told her that her record label was looking for her, Mariah blew up at her mother, who in turn called the police and was sent to the “spa” aka rehab. The breakdown was what her therapist called a “diva fit.” Do you think you ever suffered a nervous breakdown? Does hearing Mariah’s story help you understand her better? Have you read “The Meaning of Mariah?” What are your thoughts?
