A San Jose mother’s life has been changed forever. Laura Barajas, 40, has had her limbs amputated while battling a bacterial infection. Barajas had bought tilapia from a local market for dinner. She cooked it and ate it alone. Within days, she got very ill and was then hospitalized. The CDC says about 150-200 cases of the infections are reported each year and about one in five people with the infection die — sometimes within one to two days of becoming ill. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with medical expenses. If you would like to donate to the GoFundMe, find it below!
