Jennifer Lopez To Star In Graphic Novel-Based Rom-Com 'Marry Me'

91st Annual Academy Awards - Red Carpet

Jennifer Lopez, rom-com queen, has landed herself another movie gig.

The "On the Floor" singer will star in STXfilms' upcoming production of a new romantic-comedy called "Marry Me," Variety reports. The Kat Coiro-directed film, expected to start shooting this fall, will also co-star Wedding Crashers actor Owen Wilson. You can recall, Wilson and Lopez once fought against oversized serpents alongside Ice Cube and Jon Voight in the adventure horror flick Anaconda back in 1997.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Bobby Crosby, Marry Me "centers on a pop star (Lopez), who, moments before marrying her rockstar fiance at Madison Square Garden, finds out that he cheated on her with her assistant. She breaks down on stage and picks a random man (Wilson) out of the crowd to marry instead."

Additionally, Harper Dill will rewrite the script for the film, originally penned by John Rogers and Rami Sagher for Universal, with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina on board as producers. Marry Me will be the third project from Goldsmith-Thomas and Medina in collaboration with Lopez after last year's Second Act and the forthcoming Hustlers. The star-studded cast for the latter, a crime drama, was announced last month, and features appearances from Cardi B, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles, Lili Reinhart and Usher.

“We continue to have amazing experiences with Jennifer, Elaine and Benny with each film we collaborate on, and we’re thrilled that they wanted to work with STX again on this funny and endearing project,” said STXfilms chairman Adam Fogelson. “Owen Wilson is a hilarious and charismatic addition to the film, and the perfect person to play opposite Jen in a role that was quite literally made for her.”

Lopez's Hustlers flick opens September 13.
