Chris Evans Seemingly Denies Report Of Reprising Captain America Role

Chris Evans has seemingly denied reports of reviving his Captain America role.

On Thursday, Deadline reported that Evans was "expected to reprise the role in the Marvel Comic Universe in some form," according to sources.

However, shortly after the report was released, the Boston native tweeted, "News to me," with a crossed-arms emoji.

The Deadline report said it was "vague whether the deal is closed," but insiders with knowledge of the reported talks said Evans is believed to return as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in at least one Marvel installment, with the possibility of a second film as well.

Sources told Deadline the rumored appearance was unlikely to take place in the upcoming 'Captain America' film, but more likely to be similar to Robert Downey Jr.'s post-'Iron Man 3' roles in other MCU films such as 'Captain America: Civil War' and 'Spider-Man: Homecoming.'

Evans has previously stated his intention to retire the Captain America role after 'Avengers: Endgame,' with Marvel having the Rogers character participate in a torch-passing type of moment with Anthony Mackie's character.

Deadline said it was unclear how Evans' character would return, although many other MCU characters have returned in several previous movies over the years.
