There was a social media post circulating Twitter and Instagram warning people in the Bay Area to be cautious of a "Slap and Asian Challenge" going around the city. In a series of tweets, the SFPD says that they are aware of the social media warning against the challenge, however, they haven't had any calls regarding people witnessing the challenge or any evidence of the challenge actually taking place on social media. In conclusion, the whole thing might be a hoax derived from the increase of racially motivated attacks against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in SF and the Bay. With that being said, here's another moment to make sure we speak out if we see suspicious activity here in the Bay and #StopAsianHate.
