The mask mandate was reinstated at the California State Capitol after nine legislative staffers reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, four of the nine people were fully vaccinated. Moving forward, "unvaccinated legislators and employees are also required to be tested for the coronavirus twice a week, beginning Thursday."

Prior to the outbreak, masks were required in all public spaces, but could be removed if the person was vaccinated and in an office. Seven of the nine people reportedly worked in the same office.
