UC Berkeley may be getting a new dormitory thanks to a generous donor.

The Helen Diller Family Foundation reportedly donated $300 Million towards a new 14-story, 772-bed dorm. If passed, the new dorm will be replacing two historic structures and a rent-controlled building in Berkeley.

According to Berkeleyside, future students may benefit from the new building:

"Net revenues spun out from rents will pay for about $2.5 million in scholarships each year for 100 first-generation, lower-income students."
