Starting today, San Francisco Public Works will be taking items away from street vendors if they do not have a permit. Police officers will be accompanying the Public Works crew around the BART plaza on 24th Street and Mission Street. All vendors must have a permit, which currently costs about $430, plus a business license. According to KRON4, there are fee waivers for low-income people that will allow them to get a FREE permit.

If vendors do not have a permit, they could face fines up to $1,000.
