A great white shark wanted to be apart of the surf competition taking place on Saturday at San Onofre State Beach located just outside of San Clemente. According to KTLA, the San Onofre Surf Club’s yearly competition was taking place when the shark breached the water right as a photographer captured a surfer riding a wave.

Jordan Anast snapped the photo in the exact moment that shark was in the air behind the surfer. He explained to The Orange County Register that he has shot a million photographs at that exact beach, but none compare to the "sharknado" that was captured this past weekend.

“I thought, ‘That’s a big dolphin,' It’s a shot I’ll never get again,” the veteran photographer told The Orange County Register.

KTLA mentioned that this specific beach is known for being populated with great white sharks but it is rare for one to exit the water, and it is even more rare to capture the exact moment on camera.

“My passion has always been to stop time for 1 second, capture a memory for someone or something that will last forever and show the world my pics through my lens. These shots will always be a part of San Onofre history and that is pretty cool,” Anast shared with KTLA.
