Beloved Local Hayward Coffee Shop "Hippies Brew" Is Making a Comeback!

If there's one thing about me it's that I am a complete coffee snob! I probably average 3-5 cups a day. I'm not a huge fan of espresso, so you can imagine my love for local coffee shops such as Philz and Blue Bottle-- who are notoriously known for making strictly delicious pour overs! Me, being Hayward native, will take that drive to Oakland, San Jose, and San Francisco for this coffee. However, a few years ago a coffee shop in my neck of the woods opened up and it was love at first sight! Not only did they make the freshest pour overs, but they really cared about the community! For example, they had a wall full of post it notes. I asked the owner, Sonya, what it was about and she explained that when you buy two coffee's you get your coffee and a post it note. Write an inspiring or friendly message on the post it, stick it on the wall, and someone less fortunate can walk in and trade the message in for a free coffee. They also had a free library, you could take a book, but you had to leave one. Local graffiti art on the walls. Everything about this place was amazing and it was in MY CITY! Unfortunately, due to maintenance issues the shop had been closed down for almost a year now. Well I'm so happy that they are back! The grand opening is September 29th at the new Hayward library! A win for all coffee lovers in the Hayward community and Eastbay!
