As we know, so many businesses are struggling and many are being forced to close.
Every Friday in August, beginning on the 7th, it is closing off 9th Street between Franklin and Webster streets. Restaurants are setting out socially distanced tables and chairs.
One of these businesses is Ming’s Tasty restaurant that’s currently doing outdoor dining to make up for the losses they’ve reaped during shelter-in-place.
Sunny Huang, owner of the restaurant says sales have been down 60% despite people ordering take-out.
Oakland’s Chinatown is not as economically rich as the one in SF, but it has been a hub for many jobs and thriving restaurants for the Oakland economy.
"I miss that feeling in my restaurant with customers all here. A lot of customers waiting for tables, I miss that feeling," said Huang.
