On Wednesday, September 30, Gavin Newsom signed a new law that will allow California to develop a detailed plan for granting reparation to Black Americans. The law creates a nine-member task force to create proposals that would show how the sate could provide reparation to Black Americans, what form the reparations would take, and who be eligible to receive them.
Just moments after signing the bill, California Governor Gavin Newsom shared in a ceremony broadcast on his YouTube channel,
"This is not just about California, this is about making an impact, and a dent, across the rest of the country."
