On Wednesday (December 16), the very first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for San Francisco were sent to frontline healthcare workers at SF General Hospital. The hospital had received a delivery of 2,000 vaccines, which was the first to arrive in the Bay Area. California is expected to receive 327,600 doses of the Pfizer vaccine throughout the week, and an additional 393,000 next week. Mayor London Breed shared a video on Twitter captioning,
"The first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in San Francisco were given this morning to frontline healthcare workers at SF General Hospital! There is an end to this pandemic in sight. Let's do everything we can to keep each other safe until we get there."
