I'm sure you remember the good-feel, Oscar winning 2009 film "The Blind Side" starring Sandra Bullock, about Retired NFL star Michael Oher who was adopted into a wealthy, white family. It turns out the movie is not based on a true story. The NFL star announced that the Tuohy family lied about adopting him and tricked him into signing conservatorship papers when he was 18 to exploit him. He has filed a legal petition to terminate the conservatorship.
The 14-page petition alleges that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy took Oher into their home as a high school student and never adopted him.
“Michael trusted the Tuohys and signed where they told him to sign. What he signed, however, and unknown to Michael until after February 2023, were not adoption papers, or the equivalent of adoption papers.”
