“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, (red x emoji) in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me (green check emoji) Love you for LIFE,” Nicki Minaj wrote on Twitter at 1:20 pm this afternoon (September 5th)
The “Megatron” rapper posted a picture of herself at the beginning of her career with the cover of her singing Wyclef Jean’s “The Sweetest Girl,” she captioned the photo, "I wish I could go back in time and hug this little girl."
Prior to the announcement, she shouted out Rapsody, Missy Elliot, Lizzo, and Trina.
The statement also comes at a time when her first single of 2019, “Megatron” debuted at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 but fell to number 92 in the second week.
Do you think Nicki is seriously retiring? Do you believe that starting a family is the reason for her retirement?
