In a recent interview with WNBA star Lisa Leslie, Gayle King hounded Leslie into answering if she thought’s Kobe’s legacy would be complicated by 2003 rape allegations.
Leslie responded,It's not complicated for me at all. Even if there's a few times that we've been at a club at the same time, Kobe's not the kind of guy, never been, like, 'Lis, go get that girl, or tell her, or send her this.' I have other NBA friends that are like that. Kobe, he was never like that.
People took to Twitter to let King have it. One person tweeted,That @GayleKing interview with Lisa Leslie was distasteful. To ask Lisa about Kobe’s alleged sexual assault while she’s mourning his death was truly nasty. Charges were dismissed over 10 years ago and during his time of death that’s what you focus on... Your agenda is calculated.
Another person tweeted,Can’t stand Gayle King and Oprah. They ONLY attack black men in this manner. They never get at men of other races, damn sure don’t get at women, but Bruhs they won’t hesitate. Shout out to Lisa Leslie for checking her (and other weak media) professionally.
And another let King have it and tweeted,Now @GayleKing that interview you did with R.Kelly was more then right, but what you just did to Lisa Leslie and the Legacy of Kobe Bryant was foul AF! His family is grieving not one but two losses and this how you act? And you didn’t stop kept going on and on about it.
Do you think Gayle King was wrong to ask Lisa Leslie about Kobe’s rape allegations and his legacy?
