Study Confirms Coronavirus Not as Harmful to Children

Although a handful of juvenile cases have led some to question initial findings, a new study has confirmed the coronavirus generally doesn't cause severe reactions in children.

A report published Monday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says while infected kids experience fever, shortness of breath and coughing, the symptoms are usually far less serious than they are in adults. The report also indicates one in five infected children are hospitalized, compared to one in three adults.

That's not to say children are invincible from the virus. Of 150,000 confirmed cases that were examined for the study, about 2,500 -- or 2 percent -- were kids. Three of them died, the study indicates.

Why were schools among the first places to get shut down? Have you had trouble convincing your kids to stay home during the pandemic?
