The mayor of Las Vegas raised more than a few eyebrows last week when she called the governor's shutdown of casinos "total insanity." But, apparently, she was just getting started.
In an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper on Wednesday, Mayor Carolyn Goodman dismissed the coronavirus pandemic, saying, "We've had viruses for years." When Cooper asked if opening casinos would create a "virus petri dish," Goodman called him an "alarmist."
At one point during the interview, Cooper began sharing research from Chinese scientists that proved the coronavirus spreads quickly in confined spaces. Interrupting him, Goodman snapped, "This isn't China. This is Las Vegas." That prompted the normally level-headed Cooper to respond, "OK, that's really ignorant."
Is it easier for the government to deal with dead people than a dead economy? If you lived in Las Vegas, would you vote to re-elect Mayor Goodman?
