Dove Cameron is following in her musical forbearers' footsteps.

The Descendants actress, 30, channeled legendary singer and pop culture icon Cher for People's World's Most Beautiful Issue 2026, wearing a sequined Bob Mackie-inspired look and feathered purple jacket paired with her long dark locks. In a new interview for the issue published Tuesday (April 21), Cameron explained how the Sonny & Cher star, 79, helped pave the way for other multi-hyphenates like herself by refusing to choose between music and her acting career.

"She taught me that anything is possible," she said. "She was one of the original artists that was able to do both [singing and acting] successfully. Growing up in the industry, they always tell you to pick one. Cher was a pioneer in that way. I find that incredibly inspiring," she said. "I guess what I've learned is just that you can't let anyone pigeonhole."

Cameron added, "Her artistry is pretty intrinsically linked to who she is as a person, and I love who she is as a person. I love her strength."

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter in February, Cameron reflected on her own evolving style and pushed back at the critics comparing who she was as a child star on Disney to now being a singer and actress living her life at 30.

"I think there's always going to be a large number of people who hear my name and think of me when I was 19, platinum blonde and smiling at the camera," she said. "'She changed so much.' I think it would be bizarre if I was still behaving like an 18, 19 year old as a 30-year-old woman."
