Study Says Uber, Lyft Algorithms Charge More for Rides to Non-White Neighborhoods
A study that analyzed over 100 million ride-sharing trips in Chicago has concluded that both Uber and Lyft are using algorithms that discriminate against riders going to non-white neighborhoods.
When passengers were either picked up from or going to a minority and/or lower income neighborhood they were charged more per mile.
Lyft has denied that race was a factor involved in pricing.
In a statement they said, there are many factors that go into dynamic pricing-race is not one of them.
Have you ever had a pricing issue with either Lyft or Uber? How did you handle it?
