There could be fewer independent films and TV shows next year thanks to the coronavirus.
According to industry experts, insurers are no longer covering COVID-19 related infection outbreaks, which is preventing productions from securing financing from banks.
Indy film producer Robert Salerno explained toReutersthat the result will be "less content of the caliber that we're used to," since they can't self-insure like the big studios.
Producers hope to find private investors or move the projects to countries that offer pandemic protection.
