Would you pay to get onto Treasure Island? You're going to have to in 2021! It was announced today that drivers driving to and from the island will have to pay a toll.
You can expect to pay:
On weekdays, the toll will be $3.50 – both directions during peak hours and $2s off peak.
On weekends – it will cost $1 during peak hours – and free the rest of the weekend.
The toll is being implemented to help pay for The Treasure Island Development project which will build 8,000 homes by 2035. The current population of the island is 2,000 but it's expected to reach 25,000 by 2034. Find out more from The San Francisco Examiner here.
