Netflix has secretly gotten rid of their "most affordable ad-free option for subscribers."
Now this doesn't affect anyone who currently has this plan but Netflix has removed their $9.99 ad-free Basic plan in the United States and United Kingdom. Those who are new subscribers to the streaming service must now choose between the Standard Plan with ads for $6.99, Standard without Ads for $15.49 or the Premium option for $19.99.
“The Basic plan is no longer available for new or rejoining members,” Netflix posted on its FAQ page as of Wednesday morning. “If you are currently on the Basic plan, you can remain on this plan until you change plans or cancel your account.”
The reasoning behind this is that the "ad tier draws higher revenue per subscriber than the Basic tier they just got rid of." For more, click here.
