Nike Pulls A New Shoe Release Because Of Colin Kaepernick's Objection

Nike had plans to release a special edition shoe this week called the "Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July" that had the US colors and featured our flag. The only problem is that it wasn't a current US flag. Colin Kaepernick noticed that the flag represented was actually the Betsy Ross flag design, which shows only 13 starts in a circle. Colin reached out to Nike and told them that this shoe was 'offensive' because the symbol on the back represents when slavery was legal.

Nike has pulled the new shoe from its shelves and asked stores to send boxes back immediately before release. Their official reason for not releasing the shoe was "it featured an old version of the American flag."
