A Berkeley couple is offering a huge reward, no questions asked, in hopes of having their stolen safe returned.

The safe was full of jewelry and family history worth $500,000, according to KRON4.

Officials report that the safe was stolen during a brazen break-in during the day on August 3, 2021.

According to KRON4, there has been a recent increase in daytime burglaries in cities like Oakland and Berkeley with elderly people being the main target.

The couple's identities have not been released.

Camera footage shows the burglar breaking a windowpane to open a door to the basement. Then they dragged out the 300-pound safe using a family quilt. The couple was out when the robbery occurred.

Inside of the safe were valuables like diamonds, South Sea pears, gold designer bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, pendants, and pocket watches that date back three generations.

Authorities say the getaway car was a white Chevrolet Equinox crossover SUV which had been used in a different burglary that same day.

Anyone with information on the burglaries is being asked to contact San Francisco private investigator Bob Trent at (415) 961-0980.

“We already know a lot about the burglar because we have him on camera,” said Trent. “We know that he was wearing an easily identifiable hooded sweatshirt that reads “Push lt to the Limit,” skeleton-print dark gloves, fashionably ripped jeans and expensive Adidas Yeezy shoes.”
