Last Minute Gifts For Music Fans

It's officially a week from Christmas and if you're still lagging on buying gifts, here are some quick ideas that any music fans in your life will love.

Concert Giftcards

You can actually pay for someone to get into any concert of their choosing! Ticketmaster sells both digital and physical gift cards. You can load up any amount between $5 and $500 that can be used toward any concert or sporting event ticketed through them. Even if you can't afford to get them seats at a big arena show, anyone would appreciate having to pay less to see one of their favorite artists.

(If you do have the money, there's also the Live Nation Lawn Pass for the 2020 Season. With one personalized lawn pass, you can get into any show at the nearest amphitheater all summer long. Even the sold out shows!)

High Fidelity Earplugs

If you've been to any shows recently, you've probably left the venue with a slight ringing in your ears that usually wears off fairly soon after. Unfortunately, over time that ringing won't go away as quickly. The average volume at a concert is about 100 decibels, which our ears should only be exposed to for around 15 minutes. But as we all know, those orange foam ear plugs make it hard to hear the music. Luckily, there are now Eargasm Earplugs that reduce up to 21 decibels without sacrificing the sound quality. They've been popping up more frequently at shows, so this Christmas gift something that's both trendy and healthy!

Bandcamp Giftcards

This is a really great option if the person you're buying a gift for is into underground and local music scenes. Even if they haven't showed direct interest but love music of all kinds of genres, getting them a Bandcamp giftcard could open up a whole new world of independent music they would have never heard otherwise. The best part about this music platform is that the money you spend on music (digital and physical) goes directly to the artists! It's the perfect gift for anyone who is always searching for new music and ways to support the people that create it.

Turntables

You can't really go wrong with getting a music lover a record player! However, if you're not sure if they'll actually use it there are a lot of decent options to start out with for reasonable prices. The cheapest option is the Crosley Cruiser Portable Turntable. It's not a great turntable but it is a great option for someone who wants to see if they have a future in record collecting. That being said, if they've expressed interest in listening and collecting records then you should definitely go with an Audio-Technica. Be sure to call up any local music stores (there are a lot of options in the San Francisco & East Bay areas) before you buy online or from corporate stores!

Music Magazine Subscriptions

Despite the hard realities the 2010s held for the journalism industry, print isn't dead...just a little beat up. There are still great publications that release physical magazines full of really great editorial content. Buying someone a year long subscription to their favorite music magazine is the gift that keeps on giving. Check out publications like Rolling Stone, The Fader, The Wire, and She Shreds. A quick Google search is a good way to find publications that are writing about the kind of music that person likes too.
