US Women's Soccer Team Protest Sexist Comments At Championship Game

2020 SheBelieves Cup - United States v Japan

Women's US soccer team has been fighting for equal pay. The US men's soccer team has not achieved what the Women's team has and still get paid more.

Just a couple days after International Women's Day on March 9, during a court filing for the gender-discrimination lawsuit. The US soccer federation claimed that mens soccer,

requires a higher level of skill

The US Soccer Federation also claimed that the work that Women's team does is less demanding than the mens team.

A couple days later on March 11, the US Women's team had a championship match for the She Believe's Cup against Japan. The team protested the comments by wearing their warm up jerseys inside out during the national anthem not showing the US logo. What we did see were those four gold stars representing each World Cup the team has won!

Ali Krieger, one of the players on the team, went to social media saying,

We wanted to stand together as a team and make a statement on behalf of all women and girls that the federations comments are unacceptable. We love this sport and this country, and we cannot stand for this misogynistic treatment.

Coca-Cola came to the Women's team defense saying,

We have asked to meet with them[US Soccer Federation] immediately to express our concerns. The Coca-Cola Co. is firm in its commitment to gender equality, fairness and women’s empowerment in the United States and around the world and we expect the same from our partners

Right after the women won the championship they posted to their twitter stating their latest achievements.

#USWNT as of 03.11.20:
🏅 Qualifies for Olympics
🏆 Wins Olympic Qualifying
🏆 Wins #SheBelievesCup
📈 Has 31-game unbeaten streak

We hope the Women's team get's the pay they definitely deserve. They are after all the best Women's team in the world.
