Best of iOS 14: Top 3 Most Exciting New Features for iPhone

On Monday June 22, Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, aka WWDC 2020, starting with Tim Cook addressing an empty auditorium about Black Lives matter and the Coronavirus before launching announcements of iOS14.

The iOS 14 completely redesigns the way we use our iPhone! Here are the top 3 new features.

#1: New Homescreen with Widgets

Apple unveiled a new home screen for the iPhone with Android-style widgets and improved organization and navigation.

Apple added a new App Library, a space at the end of your home screens that organizes all of your apps in a easier-to-navigate view. All of your apps will automatically be organized there, giving you a wider view of what you've downloaded, and letting you hide the apps you don't use as often.

Similar to Google’s Android, the new iOS14 with now have widgets on your home screen. Widgets contain more information and functionality than simple app icons and give you more opportunity to personalize the look of your home screen.

Along with new app library and added widgets, the new home screen will also allow picture-in-picture video. You can now keep watching a video or talking on a FaceTime call while also accessing your other apps.

#2: Messages w/ Inline Replies & Mentions

Apple usually doesn’t add much to messages, but the iOS14 has added a few new functions to our iMessages! First is the new Memoji’s, mask included!

The new Messages list screen will now provide a space at the top for you to conveniently pin contacts you talk to most frequently! And they’re making group conversations better, too!

Now, you'll be able to respond to a specific reply and have the option to turn off all notifications in a particular group conversation unless a member of the group pings you specifically.

#3: No More Full Screen Calls!

Although it’s a small one, it’s certainly far overdue. Incoming phone and FaceTime calls will no longer take up the entire screen, creating a much less disruptive experience!

Apple also added updates such as 'CarPlay' and 'Car Key' which allows you to start your vehicle from your phone, new Map features such as 'Guides support' and 'cycling directions', and much more! See everything the iOS14 has to offer here!
