Cue Kool & The Gang, because the Oakland A's are headed to the ALDS!
On Thursday, October 1, the Oakland Athletics defeated the Chicago White Sox in the winner-take-all Wild Card Game 3 series. Liam Hendriks, who threw 49 pitches the day before, picked up the save, striking out the side in the ninth taking a 6-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox. This win snaps Oakland’s major league streak of nine consecutive losses in winner-take-all games, giving the team their first postseason series since 2006 and their first time in a winner-take-all elimination game since 1973. The A’s will head to the ALDS (American League Division Series) for Game 1 to face the Houston Astros on Monday (October 5) at Dodger Stadium.
