Scam Alert: Beware Of Fake Bay Area Sheriff's Deputy Calling Your Phone

Scam calls are going out across the Bay Area - don't fall for it!

According to NBC Bay Area, someone in San Carlos received a call from someone impersonating a deputy, asking for a $2,000 prepaid debit card. However, they did not fall for the scam and instead contacted the local Sheriff's office.

The San Mateo Sheriff's Office says they will "never call to make a monetary request."
