This San Francisco principal pulled out his check book for a teacher in need.
Yuri Dominguez, a Monroe Elementary second-grade teacher in San Francisco, failed to receive her paycheck for the month of April. The school's principal, Thor Boucher, generously loaned her $4,500 to help pay her rent! “I need to pay my bills. It’s my pay. I worked. I’m entitled to it. I shouldn’t have to beg them to pay me,” Dominguez said.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the district switched their payroll system back in January, causing several payroll issues ever since. For example, Principal Boucher shared:
"One teacher recently received maternity pay but has not had a baby in two years. Another hasn’t gotten a paycheck since February, after the system merged her with another employee who has the same name."
This payroll issue is reportedly contributing to teacher turnover as educators continue to experience "emotional distress" and other issues with their paychecks.
