To find the safest city in America, WalletHub looked at three key categories: home & community safety, natural disaster risk and financial safety. Among these categories, WalletHub considered several factors, such as: vaccination rates, number of mass shootings, earthquake risks, unemployment rates, etc. According to the study, "No one can avoid all danger, however, and we take on a certain level of risk based on where we choose to live. Some cities are simply better at protecting their residents from harm."
Fremont, CA made the list as the #17 safest city in America out of 182 cities, with Santa Rosa, CA further along the list at #39. Columbia, MD is ranked #1.
Towards the bottom of the list, San Francisco, CA is ranked at #136 and Oakland at #175.
