Six Bay Area high schools received active shooter threats on Wednesday.
According to KRON 4, authorities believe someone was "swatting," which means to make a false report to "elicit a response from law enforcement.” The following schools were affected:
- South San Francisco High School in South San Francisco
- Woodside High School in San Mateo
- George Washington High School in San Francisco
- Lincoln High School in San Jose
- McClymonds High School in Oakland
- Irvington High School in Fremont
Several schools were put on lockdown, while others believed the call had "no merit" or believed to be a "hoax."
