Superstar Restaurant in San Francisco is definitely a local favorite!
The popular hole-in-the-wall style restaurant, located at 4919 Mission St., is known for their Chinese & Filipino plate lunches full of food for only a few dollars. Meals or "silogs" include garlic fried rice, tomato or pineapple, egg and your choice of protein. Customers can pick from tocino (sweet marinated meat), different types of fish, fried chicken, spam and more. The local favorite is the Hong Kong style pork chops, which are breaded and deep fried to perfection.
According to a feature in SF Gate, "This legitimately might be the cheapest meal in San Francisco."
If you're intrigued (and hungry) stop by and bring some cash! It's still Filipino American Heritage Month, so it's the perfect time to go have some cheap, but tasty Filipino food! Check out the menu and find out more about Superstar here!
P.S. My go-to order is usually a Tosilog or Bangsilog with a side of longanisa and vinegar!
