Check out these food safety tips, courtesy of Wendy Mihm, a director of food safety education at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and KRON 4.

  • Do not wash your turkey due to the risk of cross-contamination. The juices are only safe once cooked at an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
  • Don't forget to thaw your turkey! “For every four to five pounds of turkey weight, you want to give it a full 24 hours, or full day in the refrigerator,” says Mihm.
  • Dishes should not be sitting out for more than two hours. Once everyone has eaten, it's time to pack up the leftovers!
  • When it comes to leftovers, they should be safe to eat for four days.

Happy feasting, everyone! Get more information here.
