The possibilities are endless with the Chris Kindness Award!
U.C. Berkeley professor, Alan Ross, is encouraging random acts of kindness by awarding $1,000 each month to people nominated by their communities for their good deeds. The process typically includes a nomination period, community vote and the winner is revealed on the last day of the month. Learn more about the process here.
According to the organization, acts of kindness include, but are not limited to:
- Helping a sick neighbor with groceries
- Giving up a seat on the bus
- Paying for someone in line
- Making care packages for those in need
- ... and more! The possibilities are endless!
Nominees must work or reside within the City of Berkeley to be eligible. Nominate someone here.
The Chris Kindness Award is named after Chris Walton, an educator who before his passing, taught Ross' children and "believed in the power of kindness and practiced it every day."
