Be ready for anything in this storm!
PG&E is urging customers to be prepared for power outages due to the rain and heavy wind in the Bay Area. Crews are on standby to remedy any power outages that occur due to fallen power lines, etc. "The company is using its storm outage prediction models that help determine the potential timing, location, and number of power outages," PG&E said.
Here are some safety tips to keep in mind during the storm:
- Never touch downed power lines. Report them immediately by calling 911 and then PG&E at 1-800-743-5002.
- Use flashlights when possible instead of candles due to fire risks. Keep batteries on standby. Do not leave candles unattended.
- Have a portable charger handy and keep your phone charged.
- Turn off appliances
- Have fresh drinking water on hand.
- Ensure your personal generators are safely installed.
