The 4th Annual Black Culture Fest: A Celebration of the African Diaspora, hosted by the Oakland Public Library (OPL), is back!
There will be several activities and events planned throughout the month of February, including dynamic programs, writing, and curated book lists, music, and other media celebrating various aspects of Black Culture. Events include:
- 2/4 - Black Culture Storytime @ Main Library Children's Room
- 2/8 - Black Culture Fest: Health Academy @ Eastmont Branch
- 2/22 - The Reckoning: An Update and Panel Discussion @ Golden Gate Branch
- 2/25 - Eritrean Coffee Ceremony and Circle Talk @ Main Library
- 2/28 - Resistance & the Preservation of African Cultural Traditions @ Online
The Black Press in Oakland exhibit will also be open in the Main Library from February 1st until March 31st. The exhibit celebrates Black newspapers and Black journalists in and around Oakland.
Additionally, the African Influences on American Food Culture Exhibit will be on display at the Eastmont Branch from February 1st until February 28th.
