Get ready for traffic delays if you're headed to Lake Tahoe for President's Day Weekend!
According to SF Gate, Lake Tahoe is going to be a popular destination for the upcoming holiday weekend. Whether you plan on taking Interstate 80 or Highway 50, officials expect heavy delays going into the mountains. Without traffic, the drive could take 3.5 hours from the Bay Area.
In order to avoid traffic, Google Maps suggests travelers hit the road by 10am on Friday, February 17th. However, Caltrans spokesperson, Steve Nelson, says to avoid travel at all costs on any Friday in February. Instead, he suggests you leave the Bay on a Thursday and return on a Monday.
SF GATE also reports that the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority encourages those from the Bay Area to visit midweek in order to take advantage of easy lift lines, dining availability and more affordable lodging.
