Looks like this Bay Area county will be getting a major upgrade!
According to NBC Bay Area, Contra Costa County will receive $30 Million in federal funding to improve roadways for pedestrians.
A large portion of the money will go to Antioch, where a child was killed from a car collision on her way home from school. Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe plans to reduce speeds, make the area more pedestrian friendly, restripe lanes, create new sidewalks, etc. "Thorpe believes fixing this issue will address the root cause of accidents in the area," says NBC Bay Area.
