The Bay Area is in for some high winds and heavy rain this week!
The wind will reportedly be picking up today and leading in to rain starting tomorrow and through the week. According to KRON4 Meteorologist Kyla Grogan, “I’m expecting wind ranging from 25 to 35 mph and gusts up at elevation could be in the 50-mph range... So now is the time to make sure that things around your home are secure and weather ready.”
To prepare, The Red Cross recommends hanging plants, bird feeders, wind chimes, outdoor furniture, trash bins, etc.
PG&E recommends you charge your cell phones and prepare for possible power outages, have fresh drinking water, charge your flashlights, etc. They are also warning residents to be cautious of fallen trees and to keep animals and children away. They could be hiding a downed power line, which should be assumed to be "energized and extremely dangerous."
Temperatures are also expected to drop below freezing with possible chance of snow.
