Looks like San Francisco is making teachers a priority!
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, housing for teachers, a plan that has been in the works for over two decades, is finally in motion. One 134-unit complex is set to be completed in the Outer Sunset in 2024 and another two projects have been approved in the Sunset and nearby Hayes Valley.
Mayor London Breed strongly supports the initiative, saying “Having our educators be a part of our community instead of having to drive long distances makes our whole public education system stronger.”
In addition to the three already approved locations, the city has their eyes on potential housing sites in Bayview, Laurel Heights and the Inner Sunset neighborhoods of San Francisco. The city hopes to reach their goal of 550 units by 2030.
