Singer, songwriter, and record producer, Charlie Puth can do it all! Which is why we're proud to present the multi-platinum artist as one of our WiLD 94.9 Jingle Ball performers.
Charlie Puth began his career as a viral Youtube sensation and proceeded to transition seamlessly into mainstream pop success. This is because Puth and pop music's pulses seem to share a BPM. His mother began teaching him the piano at age four and he started making his own music a few years later. He recorded a Christmas album in the sixth grade that he sold door to door around his neighborhood. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2013 where he honed his skills in songwriting and music production and engineering. His debut single was the smash hit "Marvin Gaye" featuring Meghan Trainor. Soon after, Puth co-produced and sang the main chorus on the Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again," which was featured on the Furious 7 soundtrack as tribute to the late Paul Walker.
His debut studio album Nine Track Mind was released in 2016 and included the two hits with Trainor and Khalifa as well "We Don't Talk Anymore," a duet with fellow pop giant Selena Gomez. Despite having three successful singles, Puth was disappointed in the outcome of Nine Track Mind, stating that it felt rushed. Adamant on bettering himself as an artist, the follow up album Voicenotes saw Puth return with razor sharp production and a mature edge. The lead single "Attention" is a perfect example of his growth. To drive the point home, there's also a duet with R&B favorite Kehlani called "Done for Me" and the soulful "If You Leave Me Now" which features the kings of a cappella harmonies, Boyz II Men.
In preparation for his third studio album, he's dropped two singles "I Warned Myself" and "Mother." The cover art to both singles picture Puth with a shaved head, a stark contrast from his last two album covers which feature him with a full head of luscious hair. This is a good sign Puth is amping up for a new era of artistry and we can't wait to see what it entails. Maybe we'll even get a sneak peek when he takes the WiLD 94.9 Jingle Ball stage!
