Oakland has been taking some major losses lately.
The Golden State Warriors are going across the bridge to their soon-to-be new arena in San Francisco. The Raiders just announced that they're officially moving to Las Vegas, in search of a bigger and better stadium. The Athletics is the only pro sports team Oakland has left — and the organization's new president David Kaval hopes to keep it that way.
Kaval recognizes that a new ballpark is necessary to keep the team around, and has said he's "committed to Oakland." He's seen success before, when he was able to get Avaya Stadium built for the San Jose Earthquakes.
To show their commitment to the city and inspire pride in their fans, The A's have introduced their #RootedInOakland campaign.
One way or another, he wants to find a way to build Oakland a stadium it deserves. This is good news for the Oakland sports community, a city of people who fiercely love their home teams.
Hopefully Kaval's game plan can keep the last franchise alive in the East Bay. Oakland has already suffered enough.
