At our recent iHeartRadio Jingle Ball, Shawn Smith referred to Sam Smith as 'he' instead of 'they'
He later went to Instagram to apologize for the mistake. Shawn wrote, "Oh @samsmith I'm so sorry for referring to you as a 'he' for your jingle ball introduction. It absolutely slipped my mind. Wont happen again..Sending you so much love! Also, you absolutely are one of the funniest people I've ever met."
Sam accepted the apology and responded with, "We're all learning together." They also added two heart emojis.
Sam came out as non-binary in September and announced they would go by they/them pronouns.
I think it was really nice of Shawn to apologize because mistakes definitely happen. What do you think?
