Walmart recently announced plans to shutter a handful of stores across California this week as part of their latest business strategy, entirely unrelated to financial troubles.

In fact, the giant retailer (deemed America's biggest) has plans to open a handful of locations across the country by the end of 2024, with a local market approach rather than their usual, giant super center.

California stores slated to close this month include:

  • 2121 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA
  • 605 Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon, CA
  • 2753 E. Eastland Center Drive, West Covina, CA
  • 4080 Douglas Boulevard, Granite Bay, CA
  • 40580 Albrae Sreet, Fremont, CA

Stores across Wisconsin, Colorado, Ohio, Georgia, and Maryland will also shutter this month as part of the company's latest announcement.

In addition to closing multiple locations and opening new and improved neighborhood markets, Walmart also unveiled plans to remodel a whopping 650 stores within the next couple of months, surprising customers with a modern update!

Current employees of Walmart stores shuttering this month were offered the opportunity to accept a severance package or transfer to a nearby store to continue working with the company.
