Director John Singleton Has Passed Away After Being Taken Off Life Support

John Singleton was the first African American and the youngest person ever to be nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards. John Singleton was only 24 years old when was nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards for his 1991 film "Boyz N The Hood". Singleton was a from South Los Angeles and some other films he directed include Poetic Justice 1993 starting Janet Jackson and Tupac, Higher Learning 1995, Baby Boy 2001 staring Taraji P Henson, 2 Fast 2 Furious 2003, and Four Brothers 2005 and a few more projects including co-creating the TV drama Snowfall. You can see all of his filmography here on Wikipedia John Singleton suffered a stroke on April 17th and he was taken off of life support yesterday after complications from his stroke. We are very sorry to hear this and want to acknowledge his contributions. Our world definitely wouldn't be the same without these films. RIP John Singleton January 6, 1968 - April 29, 2019
