For the first time Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and Miss America have all crowned black women at the same time. In the 1920s pageants barred women of color from participating, Vanessa Williams was the first black Miss America in 1983 and the first black Miss USA was in 1990 and Miss Teen USA Janel Bishop was crowned in 1991.
